BAMM had another amazing opportunity to serve alongside San Francisco City Impact and San Francisco City Academy through Adopt a Building and a health screening clinic the weekend (and Monday) of March 11–13, 2023.
Several members of the BAMM team arrived on Saturday afternoon and began preparations, staying the night at SFCI. More team members arrived on Sunday morning, and we worshipped at the San Francisco Worship Center (www.sfworshipcenter.com) together with the SFCI community. Half of the team then served in the afternoon with Adopt a Building through SFCI (www.sfcityimpact.com), while the rest of the team prepared for the health screening clinic to serve the student body and staff of SF City Academy.
On Monday, the BAMM team partnered with SFCA to provide a health screening clinic for the students, including vision screening. In addition, nutrition education was provided in every class at age appropriate levels. There were writing workshops for the younger classes and education around body changes and healthy choices for the older classes in an age appropriate fashion.
We also had the opportunity to meet with and provide some medical information and screening for the staff of SFCA. One of the most encouraging things we witnessed were the unbridled aspirations of the students as they continued to thrive in the nurturing environment provided at SFCA – we met several future doctors, nurses, software engineers, etc. The sky was the limit!
